Update Requests

1. Update Request Overview

Update requests provide a workflow for customers to request increases in subscription resource limits (users, storage, stages).

Fields

  1. Subscription - Which subscription to update (required)
  2. Update Type (Selection, required):
    • user - Update user limit
    • storage - Update storage limit
    • stage - Update stage limit
    • worker - Update the Odoo worker count (added by sadeem_saas_docker, Docker subscriptions only)
  3. Value - New total value requested (not the increase amount)
  4. Current Value - Current limit (computed, readonly)
  5. Current Usage - Current actual usage of the resource (computed, readonly)
  6. Difference - Increase amount: value - current_value (computed, readonly)
  7. State - Request status:
    • new - Pending review
    • approve - Approved and applied
    • decline - Rejected
  8. Action By - User who approved or declined the request
  9. Name - Auto-generated display name (e.g., "SS-00001 - Users Update")

2. Validation Rules

Constraints

  • The requested value must be greater than or equal to current usage (cannot decrease below what's already in use)
  • The requested value must be different from the current limit (no-op requests are rejected)

3. Actions

Action Description
Approve Updates the subscription limit, sets state to approve, logs a message
Decline Sets state to decline, logs a message
Bulk Approve Approve multiple selected requests at once
Bulk Decline Decline multiple selected requests at once

4. Display Format

Approved requests display a summary like: 100 → 150 users (+50)

5. Auto-Approve Configuration

Update requests can be automatically approved based on company settings.

Setting Description
Auto Apply Storage Update Automatically approve storage increase requests
Auto Apply User Update Automatically approve user limit requests
Auto Apply Stages Update Automatically approve stage limit requests
Auto Apply Worker Update Automatically approve worker count requests (Docker only)

Configuration

Auto-approve settings are configured at the company level under SAAS Management > Configuration > Settings — see Configuration & Settings.

A worker approval only changes the field

Approving a worker request writes the new Workers value on the subscription; it does not touch the running container. The new value reaches the instance when the stack configuration is pushed — Apply Configuration on the Docker tab — which restarts the container. Plan that restart separately from the approval.

6. Portal Integration

Customers can submit update requests directly from the portal via the endpoint /portal_create_update_request_json/<id>. The request goes through the same approval workflow.
